About the position
Help serve meals to women and children experiencing disadvantage and homelessness at the Women’s House.
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone to help deliver a high quality meal program for women and children accessing the Women’s House.
In this role you will help encourage an environment that welcomes participants and builds community within the Women’s House.
As this is a women (Cis or Trans) safe space this position is open strictly to female and female identifying applicants only.
As you may be working with clients you should have an understanding of the issues involved in poverty and homelessness and the capacity to work respectfully with a diverse range of participants.
A sound knowledge of food safety together with basic cooking skills is essential. Prior volunteer experience is also desirable.

About the Women’s House
The Women’s House in St Kilda is a welcoming, safe and supportive Engagement Hub tailored to the needs of all Women (Cis and Trans) who are experiencing homelessness, financial hardship or barriers to social inclusion and participation.
We strongly welcome Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and people from the LGBTIQA+ community who may have a gender diverse experience. We are committed to providing a culturally safe and inclusive space for everyone who visits the Women’s House.
Responsibilities
- Attend Women’s House on rostered days from 10.30am – 1.30 pm.
- Collect prepared food from the main kitchen and ensure that this food is kept at a safe temperature during the food service.
- Prepare any additional food required such as side dishes/cakes and set up kitchen for food service.
- Present and serve meal in a friendly manner to women attending the house on a daily basis.
- Clean and pack up after meal service
Commitment
We are flexible with what fits into your schedule and have shifts available Monday to Friday from 10.30am – 1.30pm
