We spoke to the team at Sacred Heart Community about what makes our residence and services special. This is what they said:

Margaret, Sacred Heart Community Manager: Sacred Heart Community is a home for life, for people who have experienced homelessness, trauma, and live with mental illness.
Yoko, Clinical Care Coordinator: What I enjoy most about my job here in Sacred Heart Community is how united our team are.

Shermin, Personal Care Assistant: This facility is nothing like the other facilities. The way we come together and the way we help one another is totally different.

Santiago, Life Matters Coordinator: This is a home, first of all. So we want people to come here and eventually feel like this is my home. This is where I can be myself.

Irma, Emotional Support Therapist: They share things about their lives and tell me stories. And it’s very beautiful to have that meaningful connection. So it’s not just the functional relationship.

Brian, Lifestyle Assistant: Makes you feel like you’re needed and you’re doing a worthwhile job.

Yoko: We’re about the residents. We’re about the values that Sacred Heart Mission holds. And we really enjoy coming to work and not just for the residents, but also for the staff.

Shermin: Different languages, different culture, but still we come together and we help one another and we get things done at the end of the day.

Irma: Yeah. That’s a very special connection between the staff as well. And I think the residents feel that. So because it’s like it is their home everyone has a feeling of being family.

Margaret: The residents make it special. They are an amazing group of people.

Shermin: They have the independence to do this, but we are there to help them. Yeah, that’s what we love here.

Santiago: We all have the same Mission. Pardon the pun; Sacred Heart Mission, of course. But I think that’s true. I think everyone here is here for the same reasons and the right reasons.

Yoko: It’s not about where you’re from or, you know, where you’ve been, but we can come together and work towards the same goal and that’s to provide quality life for our residents.

Santiago: I don’t think I could find the experiences that I have here anywhere else.

Margaret: Yes. My team who are an extraordinary group of people, who work in all sorts of capacities; and we couldn’t do this without everyone doing what they do in this facility. So, you know, wonderful people.
