About the Position
Monthly onsite volunteer hairdresser opportunity supporting our Lifestyle team at Sacred Heart Community with visits to the home for haircuts/trims and barber grooming.
What we are looking for
We’re seeking a volunteer qualified hairdresser who is warm, approachable, and confident engaging with clients in a respectful and non-judgmental way.
You will be well-suited to this role if you:
- Have good organisational skills and enjoy keeping spaces tidy and well-presented.
- Are comfortable working independently, with support available when needed.
- Can maintain appropriate boundaries and uphold SHM’s values
- Are reliable and able to commit to a monthly shift.

About Sacred Heart Mission
Every day of the year, Sacred Heart Mission assists hundreds of people who are experiencing homelessness or disadvantage to find shelter, food, care and support. Through our wide-ranging homelessness services, research and innovation we strongly advocate for an inclusive, fair and compassionate community where people can overcome disadvantage and trauma.
Responsibilities
- Assisting Lifestyle staff with the facilitation of monthly haircuts for our residents in the home’s hairdressing salon.
- Attend Sacred Heart Community Aged Care Facility on agreed days – usually half a day, once a month.
- Demonstrate a respectful and non-judgmental approach in all interactions with residents.
- Clean and pack up hairdressing service.
- Clean and sterilize scissors, combs, clippers, and other instruments
- Utilise equipment to ensure that client’s clothing is protected during their visit
Commitment
Monthly, usually half a day
