About Chef Alejandro Saravia

Executive Chef Alejandro Saravia is well known as introducing Peruvian cuisine to Australia’s food culture as well as being a passionate ambassador for the regional produce of his home state of Victoria.

His passion for authentic food made with love, is combined with his wealth of experience gained through cooking in world-class kitchens across three continents.

Alejandro’s critically acclaimed dining concept Farmer’s Daughters opened in Melbourne’s prestigious 80 Collins  precinct in January 2021. With Farmer’s Daughters, Alejandro has created a cultural and gastronomic embassy in the CBD which showcases the diversity of the Gippsland region in a true farm to table experience over three levels.

In 2017 Alejandro became the official food and beverage ambassador for Gippsland Victoria on the back of the successful Renascence Gippsland program that focused on promoting this amazing Victorian region widely known as Victoria’s food bowl and for its green pastures and highly specialised producers, farmers and growers.

In 2018 and 2019, Alejandro was invited to represent the Farmer’s Daughters concept as part of the esteemed AO Chef Series at the Australian Open.

Whilst championing the local produce of Victoria’s regions through Farmer’s Daughters as well as pop-up events and culinary collaborations, Alejandro has explored the breadth of Victoria, spending time with farmers, growers, producers and makers absorbing their passion and knowledge.

Alejandro’s culinary philosophy is one of fresh seasonal produce that is inspired by Victoria and tells the stories of its seasons, people and produce.

In 2022, Alejandro will bring this exploration of Victoria to life with the opening of Victoria by Farmer’s Daughters in the Yarra building at Fed Square. Victoria by Farmer’s Daughters will explore different regions each season, traversing the state and inspiring diners through ingredients, produce and culinary stories.

In addition, from March 2022 Alejandro takes up a permanent residency in Australia’s most prestigious stadium member’s dining room: the MCC Long Room at the MCG. Alejandro will be curating a Farmer’s Daughters inspired menu at this iconic destination every match day.

Alejandro’s passion for authentic food made with love is combined with Alejandro’s wealth of experience gained through cooking in world-class kitchens across continents. From culinary school in Peru at the age of 16, followed by a traineeship in New York to stints in Barcelona, Paris, London and Sydney – including at the esteemed Sails on Lavender Bay – the coveted chef has worked with some of the best, including under Heston Blumenthal at The Fat Duck (London).
