“The process was very smooth, giving me a clear picture of my assets and how I want them distributed after I pass away. It made me think deeply about the effect of my bequeathing assets to certain people and organisations. “However, the current state of the economy means that a sizeable number of Australians do not have the security of a home and the corresponding peace of mind and ability to participate in society. The negative consequences of isolation and inability to participate in society are well known.”
“I have experienced the negative consequences of not being able to have the security of a home closely, and it made me feel terrible. Sacred Heart Mission provides homes to Australians in need, and that is why I have included them in my Will.” says Raymond.

When asked what he would like to share with our community supporters who may be considering including a gift in their Will, Raymond says.
“I would encourage everyone to think about doing their Will as soon as possible. Once you have done the first draft, the process of updating the Will is very easy.”
“If you have surplus assets, it means that you are reasonably privileged. I would encourage others to think about charitable giving. It is a very rewarding feeling when you see assets create value that’s not just measured in money, but also in the peace of mind and joy in others who benefit.”
Raymond continues, “I believe we should prioritise minimising homelessness. People are losing access to their homes more easily than in previous years. People with stable jobs, parents and carers. These people are important to the foundation of our society, and it is extremely important that we keep these people safe.”
