North-side bargain-hunters will need to mark their calendars for the opening of Sacred Heart Mission’s twelfth op shop at 311 High Street, Preston on Friday, 31 August 2018.

The shop will host an opening night on Friday, 31 August, at 6:00pm with a live band, while shoppers browse the fresh stock with a glass of sparkling in hand.

Sacred Heart Mission’s op shops Manager Wade Piva says the new Preston location supports our expansion into the north, joining our two northern sites in Fitzroy and Fitzroy North, and providing a closer link to our services based in Thomastown and Reservoir.

“We have worked closely with the local community ahead of the opening and there is a great sense of excitement among local traders and we feel very welcome here,” Wade says.

“The shop’s Store Coordinator, Jacob, has put his own spin on the store. Shoppers will have to wait until the opening for the big reveal, but let’s just say we have some beautiful greenery bringing the store to life.

“Customers can expect good quality clothing, furniture, a wide array of accessories and bric-a-brac, and a regular turnover of stock.”

Sacred Heart Mission op shops are known for having a unique personality and stock that reflects the spirit of the local community, adding a little local flavour to the shopping experience.

Wade also hopes expanding further north will allow Sacred Heart Mission to further develop its reputation and brand across Melbourne.

“For many, the op shops serve as their first interaction with the organisation, as volunteers and shoppers become donors, supporters and even employees,” Wade says.

“Many Sacred Heart Mission staff started with us as volunteers and casuals. Six of our new case workers found out about the Mission through the Fitzroy North store.”

Our op shops provide a critical source of revenue for the organisation, generating almost 30 per cent of our total annual income. Funds go directly to programs and services across the organisation including our Meals Program, Women’s House and Hands on Health Clinic.
