Statement on the 2022 Victorian Election

29 November 2022
Parliament of Victoria

Sacred Heart Mission congratulates Premier Daniel Andrews and the Australian Labor Party on their re-election for a third term following the Victorian State election on 26 November 2022.

We would also like to thank retiring Member for Albert Park, Martin Foley for his long-term support as our local Member, and his support of Sacred Heart Mission for many years.  We welcome the incoming Member for Albert Park, Nina Taylor into her new role, and wish her the best for this term of Government.

We also congratulate other Members of Parliament who have provided support to Sacred Heart Mission, especially the Member for Brighton, James Newbury and the Member for Prahran, Sam Hibbins on their re-election on Saturday evening.

As we await the final results for the election of Members of the Legislative Council, Sacred Heart Mission looks forward to working with newly elected members and re-elected members of the Southern Metropolitan Region.

At Sacred Heart Mission, we believe everyone deserves a safe place to call home. We look forward to working with the Andrews’ government on increasing the supply of social and affordable housing, reforming the homelessness services system through the upcoming Homelessness Strategy, improving health care access for people who are experiencing homelessness or extreme disadvantage, and scaling up Housing First programs, such as Sacred Heart Mission’s proven Journey to Social Inclusion (J2SI) program.
