Join the Everybody’s Home Campaign this Federal Election

Homelessness has reached crisis point in Australia. One in 200 people are experiencing homelessness. Sacred Heart Mission works with some of the most vulnerable in our community, but our services and support will not work if we cannot get people housed.

We have joined the Everybody’s Home Campaign to send a clear message to all sides of Government this Federal Election, that it’s time to end homelessness.

There are simple things our Government can do to fix Australia’s housing system so that it works for everyone, including;

Develop a National Housing Strategy, that

• Generates 500,000 new social housing and low-cost rental properties for low and middle-income earners.

Develop a National Action Plan to end homelessness by 2030, which

• Addresses all the drivers of homelessness, including the lack of affordable housing, poverty and family violence.
• Rapidly rehouses people who are experiencing homelessness and helps them stay housed.
• Addresses the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the homeless service system.
• Takes action to prevent homelessness and delivers rapid access to the housing and support people need, if they do lose their own home.

We need as many voices as possible so all sides of Federal Government know this is an issue we cannot afford to ignore.
