Individual volunteering

There are various areas across the Mission where you can volunteer including our op shops, Dining Hall, the Women’s House and Sacred Heart Community.

Sacred Heart Mission provides services to people who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness. In order to provide these services, we rely on the generous support of thousands of dedicated volunteers. In 2019, 1,004 individuals and 287 groups contributed a total of 96,208 hours to the Mission.

Volunteering in our Melbourne community gives you the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. As an individual volunteer, there are various areas across the Mission where you can volunteer including our op shops, Dining Hall, the Women’s House, Hands on Health Clinic, reception and Sacred Heart Community. We also have many opportunities to volunteer at our various events throughout the year. To find out our full list of places you can volunteer, visit Where can I volunteer?

"I first started volunteering with Sacred Heart Mission in 2014. Since then I have served meals in the Dining Hall and Women's House, I have been a waiter serving canapes at an Art Show opening and rattled donation tins on AFL Grand final day in the city and even cooked a Christmas BBQ. No matter what part of Sacred Heart Mission you get involved in you will meet like minded people and make a difference in people's lives. You won't regret it. Next on my list to try is the op shops." - Kerry, volunteer
