From October to December, our op shops achieved something special bringing not one, but two brand-new stores to life during the busiest time of the year.
First stop: Brighton. Nestled on Bay Street, our small-but-mighty store was created with the theme Ode to the Seamstress. The store decorated with vintage sewing machines, knitting needles and mid-century sewing accessories. In just five days, a passionate team of op shop staff transformed the space, and from day one, the Brighton community embraced us. Donations flowed in, volunteers signed up, and we knew immediately that we were right where we belonged.
After a brief pause, it was straight into Essendon. Housed in a stunning heritage building filled with high ceilings and character, our team powered through the December heat to create a store inspired by the local community. With vintage train carriage bag holders, touches of blue and gold, and beautiful hardwood furniture generously donated by locals, the space came together in under a week—just in time to open before Christmas.
We’re incredibly proud to now call Brighton and Essendon home. These new stores allow us to continue rehoming pre-loved goods while raising vital funds for Sacred Heart Mission—and we couldn’t have done it without the support of these amazing communities.
Come celebrate with us – visit the stores, shop second-hand, or join us as a volunteer. 💛✨
