Jimmy O’Neills Cold Dip raises $10k for homelessness

Because a little festive fun goes a long way when it’s for a great cause!

Melbourne’s winter weather threw everything it had at St Kilda Beach on Saturday morning, as dozens of swimmers gathered for Jimmy O’Neill’s inaugural Christmas in July Cold Dip. 

Despite the wind, rain, and freezing cold temperatures, nothing could stop them from standing together for one reason: supporting people experiencing homelessness during one of the hardest times of year. 

Inspired by Irish tradition, crowds formed on the shoreline to cheer swimmers on as they counted down from three and ran towards the sea. 

After plunging into the icy water, participants headed back to Jimmy O’Neill’s, where wet towels gave way to warm celebrations, with over $10,000 raised for Sacred Heart Mission’s services.  

From taking a cold dip to donating, every dollar raised helps ensure people experiencing homelessness can get meals, daily essentials and housing support. 

A heartfelt thank you to the Jimmy O’Neill’s team for bringing this event to life, and to Benny Brady, whose incredible fundraising efforts raised $5,590.
