TRIENNIAL 2025: THRIVE celebrates almost 50 artworks by 14 resident artists from Sacred Heart Mission’s client services -Rooming House Plus Program (RHPP), Early Intervention Psychosocial Response Program (EIPSR), Bethlehem and Wellness Place. As the inaugural triennial art exhibition, it is an exciting collaboration between service programs for the first time, together finding healing, community and connection through creative arts expression.
Artists in Sacred Heart Mission programs have lived experience of homelessness, mental health challenges, and trauma. Art acknowledges, validates, processes and transforms the artist and their experience. Engagement in the therapeutic arts (“arts for wellbeing”) and creative arts therapies (“arts psychotherapies” with a qualified creative arts therapist) have been well established as an evidence-based support for mental health. In cultivating a therapeutic arts practice and an artist identity, away from diagnoses and stigma, there is space to connect with inner strength, resilience, and growth.
