Take the next step. Help Someone like Angela.

“My husband was abusive for years.”

“One time, he got so angry that he tried to throw me out of a three-storey window. I went to the police, but he just made me look like I was crazy.”

Angela didn’t want her daughter to be raised in a violent home. So Angela took the brave step to flee her abusive husband one night.  However, they found themselves alone in St Kilda with no money and no where to stay.

“Being at this age and this stage of my life, and homeless was terrifying.”

But Angela didn’t give up. She asked around and learnt about Sacred Heart Mission’s Dining Hall.

After coming in for a free meal, Sacred Heart Mission worked with Angela to find her temporary housing. From there, she found work and gained financial independence to afford a private rental. Angela was able to build a safe home with her daughter.

Demand is higher than ever

With people struggling through the cost-of-living crisis, the Dining Hall is more important than ever. But right now, it is stretched to capacity.

People like Angela come to the Dining Hall every day, and we will not turn anyone away.

Please donate now to help women like Angela, who come to the Dining Hall when they have nowhere else to go.

Every day we make up to 400 free meals

Your donation helps EVERY vulnerable person who walks through our doors. It may be the only meal they have that day.

A meal at our Dining Hall is more than a free feed and a warm welcome. It’s the start of long-term relationship and support that helps people overcome their traumatic past and build a new life.

Angela looks off to the side

Recently, Angela was forced from her home a second time

Angela first came to the Dining Hall eight years ago. With our help, she established a safe home, for herself and her daughter.

Angela and her daughter were living a happy life until her landlord increased their rent. Suddenly they were stranded with no where to live. Once again, Angela knew she could rely on Sacred Heart Mission.

Angela was welcomed back with a meal and a warm smile. After a friendly chat, Angela was recommended to our Women’s Supportive Housing Program, who helped her find a new, permanent home.
