Fundraising Terms and Conditions

Fundraising guidelines

Sacred Heart Mission adheres to all relevant legislative and local government requirements. We also abide by Fundraising Institute of Australia’s code of ethics.  

To raise funds for Sacred Heart Mission, we ask that you read and agree to our terms and conditions. By raising funds for Sacred Heart Mission, you: 

General

  • understand that all fundraising activities must align with Sacred Heart Mission’s values and messaging. Sacred Heart Mission reserves the right to reject any fundraising activity, event or donation deemed by Sacred Heart Mission to be inconsistent with its organisational objectives and values.
  • have received authority to fundraise on behalf of Sacred Heart Mission. This authority is granted to the fundraiser/host/organiser and as such, they promise to uphold all responsibilities relating to the fundraising activity.
  • confirm that any monies raised or donated during the fundraising activity will be used for the stated purpose for which they were raised and within any specified timeframe.

Legislative obligations

  • confirm that your proposed fundraising activity/event complies with all relevant legislative and local government requirements and that all appropriate permits, licenses and insurance for fundraising in the state and/or territory where the activity is to be held will be, or have been, obtained. 
  • agree to notify Sacred Heart Mission of any changes to your fundraising activity/event in advance and to only fundraise for the period of time authorised. 
  • will not exploit your position as a Community Fundraiser and/or use your relationship with Sacred Heart Mission for personal gain. 
  • agree to seek permission to use Sacred Heart Mission’s logo and branding to promote your fundraising activity. Some business and corporate supporters may seek permission to use the Sacred Heart Mission logo; these will be approved on a case-by-case basis. Where a business chooses to raise funds via an approved percentage of sales of item or service, the logo cannot be used on any products or items for sale. 

Privacy and Personal information

  • agree that all personal and sensitive information associated with the proposed fundraising activity will be handled in accordance with all relevant state and commonwealth government privacy legislation. 
  • give consent for photographs or other information you provide from the event to be published online or in publications by Sacred Heart Mission. 
  • give consent to Sacred Heart Mission to use your personal information to communicate with you in relation to the fundraising activity and work of Sacred Heart Mission.

Financial

  • confirm that any fundraising activity costs shall at all times be held to a percentage of revenue which is generally acceptable within the not-for-profit sector and by the public. In general, expenses are not to exceed 40 per cent of the gross proceeds.
  • will ensure that financial and activity reports are made available to those who engage with the fundraising activity (and general public if queried), including the amounts raised, how the money was spent, and the net proportion donated to Sacred Heart Mission.
  • Understand any donations made via any of Sacred Heart Mission’s online portals will be issued with an automatic receipt. If you are collecting cash donations and a receipt is requested, please contact us with the details of the donor, and we will issue a receipt.

Sub-contracting/engaging third parties

  • agree to seek permission from Sacred Heart Mission if planning to subcontract elements of your fundraising activity/event to third parties (e.g. auction service providers, online platforms, event managers). 
  • agree to ensure that subcontractor costs, deliverables and responsibilities are understood by them and do not compromise the acceptable percentage of revenue donated to Sacred Heart Mission. In the specific case of your fundraising activity, you understand that Sacred Heart Mission will not engage with nor take any responsibility with the subcontractor. 

Publicity

  • agree to seek permission to use the Sacred Heart Mission name and logo on promotional materials related to the fundraising activity. Permission may be granted on a case-by-case basis and is subject to changes requested by our Communications, Marketing & Advocacy team.  
  • understand that while you are not authorised to speak on behalf of Sacred Heart Mission, you may speak about your fundraising activity and what Sacred heart Mission means to you. If speaking on behalf of someone who has experienced homelessness and/or disadvantage, you agree to acquire consent from that person/s. Some people may not want their experience made public and it is important to consider the impact of relaying their story.  
  • agree not to align Sacred Heart Mission with activities such as alcohol, gambling, or tobacco organisations, X-rated or violent content, or proceeds of crime. You also accept that Sacred Heart Mission has the right to reject any fundraising activity or donation based on non-alignment. 
  • understand that Sacred Heart Mission is not able to promote your fundraising activity/event. 
  • understand Sacred Heart Mission is unable to attend all events. You can request a speaker by emailing donorcare@sacredheartmission.org. Attendance is based on staff availability.  
  • understand if the event includes specific involvement from Sacred Heart Mission, all requirements are to be agreed upon before commencing the fundraising activity. A memorandum of understanding may be included in this instance.  
  • understand that Sacred Heart Mission reserves the right to withdraw your authority to fundraise at any time if Sacred Heart Mission believes there is a likelihood of you not meeting any of these Terms and Conditions.
