Five Minute Volunteers

Sacred Heart Mission is a local Melbourne charity focused on elevating disadvantage, social exclusion, and homelessness. SHM has developed an exciting new volunteer scheme, supporting our Home Care and NDIS clients who have age-related conditions and often live alone. We are seeking volunteers who have five minutes spare and really want to make a difference to someone's life.

To volunteer for this program you must live in Port Melbourne or South Melbourne.

Many of our clients need help with minor, everyday tasks such as fitting a light bulb, putting out their rubbish bin, watering plants, sending a letter and/or just have someone checking in on them on a hot day. The idea is to match a volunteer to a resident in their area and then provide that frequent short term support. We do require a longer term commitment (at least 6 months) so that relationships can be built up. Its a very rewarding role and can be done out of normal business hours.

More information:

Further details will be sent through once you have submitted an application form. There are specific 5-min volunteer sessions aimed at people who'd like to find out more about this role and who might have some questions to see if this is a good fit for them. Please be aware that training and matching with the appropriate resident may take up to 3 months.

As part of the application process we will ask you to agree to a confidentiality agreement, Code of Conduct and be willing to undergo a police check.
