Sacred Heart Mission is a local Melbourne charity focused on elevating disadvantage, social exclusion, and homelessness. Volunteering in our clinic is a wonderful and engaging experience that directly support these goals and values, allowing for the support of those facing hardship to continue. Our clinic aims to provide a wide range of therapies in an atmosphere of calm and respect. Priority for the Clinic’s services is given to people who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. Clients pay $4.00 and could not afford to access these services any other way. We are looking for myotherapists, podiatrists, physiotherapists and a reflexologist to complement our wonderful team of volunteer practitioners at our Hands on Health Clinic. Location: 1/99 Grey St, St Kilda Responsibilities: Provide supportive complementary or allied health treatments to clients with a range of health conditions Commitment: A half day weekly, fortnightly or monthly - days negotiable The clinic is open Monday-Friday and appointments are scheduled between 9am-4pm. Volunteering in our Op Shops is absolutely crucial to the rest of the Mission as they provide the funding that allows our other services to run. We are currently looking for a fun loving retail enthusiast that wants to join our wonderful Cheltenham, Preston or East St Kilda team. There is lots of laughing, lots of craziness and always a bargain to be discoverd there. With your assistance we can help to make the store the star of the street! Come be part of the team and lets make a difference. Every $4 earned by the stores goes directly to the meals program and provides hot food for those in need. Volunteering in our wellbeing program is a wonderful and engaging experience that directly support these goals and values, allowing for the support of those facing hardship to continue.  We are looking for Tai Chi or Dance instructors to help us start up a course for our clients as part of our wellbeing program. Do you burn up the dance floor all night long? Or do you find your centre and strength by grounding yourself in tai chi? And do you have experience in teaching dancing and tai chi? Then put your skills to use with our clients. Staying active and learning new skills is a priority for our clients at SHM. You will be leading the class so an background in movement breakdowns and lesson plans is desirable. Doing physical exercise and moving plays an important part in mental health so come and support our clients to get moving and grooving.  Location: 87 Grey St, St Kilda Responsibilities: Provide a supportive and welcoming environment for clients to join the course. You would be in charge of leading and teaching the course. Having worked with our client group will be an advantage but isn't necessarily a must have. In the volunteers office we run the admin side of all things volunteers throughout the Mission. As we have over 1000 individual regular volunteers as well as community, corporate and school groups, we need a volunteer who is comfortable on the computer to help with the back of house tasks when managing a large volunteer workforce. Attention to detail and being great with people is important as it involves database and compliance work, dealing with phone and email enquiries, rostering volunteers and helping prepare various documents needed on a daily basis. Excellent knowledge of Gmail, Google Drive and Excel/Word is a must. Volunteers needed for Wednesday mornings on a weekly basis. Location: 71 Robe St, St Kilda Responsibilities: Provide support to the office team as well as our wonderful volunteers across the Mission via phone and Email. Volunteering as part of our BBQ team in our Aged Care facility can make all the difference to our clients. It is a fun way to engage with the residents living in our facility and getting to know them. Our volunteer team on Saturdays goes above and beyond to make this event a special occasion for anyone who joins in.  Location: Robe St, St Kilda Responsibilities: Prepare, cook and serve the BBQ lunch for a group of residents while also engaging those more isolated. Commitment: Saturdays lunch time. The exact roster will be planned every couple of months in advance. 11.30am-1pm Other: We are looking for reliable volunteers who can commit for at least 1 year. The roster is pretty flexible and will be planned in advance as we need two volunteers on each shift to run the BBQ. We are needing volunteer support for a Giving Day we are planning on the 12th of September. During this day we need around 150 volunteers to help us call as many supporters as possible (no cold calling involved). On this day we are hoping to raise enough money to go towards our new Aged Care facility to ensure everyone of our residents has a place to call home.  Location: Grey St, St Kilda Responsibilities: Help call your friends, family, business colleagues, associates or anyone on our list and get them to donate. Previous experience in jewelry is essential to help the store coordinator to evaluate the jewelry. Our communication team aims to advocate, educate and showcase our wide range of programs available. As part of this team you will be working across all programs and help to promote stories and events as well as research relevant information.
